Protected Red Blood Cells
CAP-e Test Protocol: Reserve is dissolved in ethyl alcohol (water solvent) and PBS (non-water solvent). The red blood cells are put in the two Reserve solutions with a peroxyl-free-radical generator (AAPH) and a florescent indicator dye. The amount of oxidative damage is measured by the change in the indicator dye. The results are then compared to the control (Gallic acid)*

The CAP-e baseline is μM Gallic acid per mL liquid test product. Results show Reserve’s antioxidant protection of cells, as compared to the known antioxidant Gallic acid, is higher by 25 percent or more.*
